We’ll see you Nov. 2 at the MMPA Excellence Awards Gala

MMPA’s 21st annual Excellence Awards Gala is almost here! On Nov. 2, we’ll gather at the stunning Aria Event Center in Minneapolis’ North Loop to relax, raise a glass and renew relationships with friends and colleagues as we recognize the year’s excellence in publishing.

At 5:30 p.m., grab a glass and your choice of some indulgent mac and cheese options, sliders, cheese, veggies and crackers. Bid on silent auction items—including Twins tickets, Beer Dabbler passes, Brave New Workshop tickets, a spirits package from Minnesota’s handcrafted 5 Vodka, and many gift cards—and help to support MMPA’s educational programming. Vote on your favorite magazine cover. Introduce yourself; exchange business cards; tussle over freelancers; recommend a good wine; offer to give someone accordion lessons. Now’s your chance.

At 7:00 p.m., emcees Mike Augustyniak and Kate Raddatz of WCCO-TV will begin announcing the awards, beginning with the presentation of the prestigious Hedley Donovan Award to Gary Johnson, president of MSP Communications. Special drawings will punctuate the prizes, as we work our way to the People’s Choice for most popular cover and the coveted “Best Overall” categories. The award for Magazine of the Year will bring us to the evening’s apex, as the five finalists await the news: American Craft, Exhibitor Magazine, Midwest Home, Minnesota Medicine and St. Olaf Magazine.

Join us after work Thursday and make a night of it with good food, fine wines and witty co-workers (bring your own, or borrow ours). And head home with at least some of the recognition you’ve earned over the past year.

MMPA is an organization of publishing members, associates or vendors, freelancers, educational institutions and sponsors. Just as it takes a variety of people to publish a magazine, it also takes a variety of members to make our organization the best it can be. Learn more
